Gypsum chunks after rye soak??? Help?

I left my rye grains to soak last night in plenty of water and just under a quarter cup of gypsum (I have read the MSDS sheet for my product, pure gypsum) which previously seemed to be fully dissolved.
This morning when I woke up I looked at my grains and they looked perfect, ready for a quick boil. As I boiled I started to see a lot of flat white chunks floating in the water, I managed to pull a nice handful of it out in pure confusion. After the boil there was significantly less chunk-age in the water, rye is now straining and evaporating but there are still small chunks of this shit left in there.
What the hell is happening here? Is this somehow normal?

I wouldnt worry about it too much, after boiling my jars with was gypsum powder stuck to the bottom of my pot. I dont think gypsum really dissolves that much, it just gets suspended in the water. Its why you should dump the gypsum on top of the grains and water instead of swirling it around. Adding it on top lets it kind of trickle down through the grains, if you swirl it too much itll all just settle at the bottom.

I use crushed gypsum board in my soak and always have some small chunks that didn't dissolve. Haven't had a problem with it.

It's common. There's no need to remove them. The mycelium can still get what it needs from the pieces. RR
