Stump growing psilocybes
    #15922672 - 03/08/12 11:52 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I was wondering if anyone here has successfully used a tree stump to spawn a colony of psilocybin.
Is this possible? Are cubensis not viable with the tree stump cultivation method?

Just wanted to add this example. All the examples that google is turning up are oyster and parasitic mushrooms.
Even just some personal experience with log plug spawning would be fine.

psylocybe are dung lovers... not wood lovers
        ^^^cubensis anyway

however on the other hand; there are "active" wood lovers... p. azurescens being one of them ^^, and also one of the most potent active basidiomycetes known as far as psylocybin and psylocin are concerned.

even then most active wood lovers wouldn't thrive on a stump like that to my knoledge... maybe underneath or close to but even then this wouldn't be ideal. not to be rude my shroomerite bro but do a little more research next time before posting.

There isn't a whole lot of research on psilocybin spawning on raw wood anyway, so I thought I'd ask. A lot of mushrooms can easily be grown with little to no maintenance using this method so I was curious. Shiitake, oyster, reishi, etc.
These are probably hardier than the azurescens, true, but it's still a valid question. Anyway, Nam, uhighashell huh?

Yeah, it is a valid question. I think RR would probably be able to tell you. I do know that you can grow some cubensis on saw dust. So maybe you could. Idk, try it and see what happens lol..

There are many wood loving psilocybes: azurescens, cyanoscens, cyanofriscosa, etc...that will fruit on wood. Though it is generally easier to get them to fruit on chips than a stump.
