Wild cubes.
    #15921895 - 03/08/12 08:39 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I just had a thought. There's this nature spot I love to visit in the summer, has hundreds upon hundreds of mushrooms growing throughout the area. Let's say I has a couple of P. cube spore syringes, and went around the area spraying the spores wherever I could. Would doing that make it so that P. cubes grow in that area? Noob question I know.

I dont see why it wouldnt, at the very least it would help as long as you put the spores in good spots.
Cubes grow wild on cow dung in tropical climates, so if you went to a cow pasture and started hitting the cow shit with pcube spore needles you would most likely see success. But if you sprayed the needle at some grass or a tree in wisconsin youd definitely be wasting your time.

It works if you put a little effort into it and get a little bit lucky.

Better to make grain spawn to mix with shit or compost outside somwhere.

just using spores might work but you'll have to get very lucky.  You might get one patch out of hundreds you try to start.

Liquid culture will improve the odds slightly.

Grain spawn to some type of compost will work most of the time.

You really need to type this into the search bar at the top.  there are hundreds of threads talking about this.

That depends fully upon whether the climate of the location is suited to growing said strain of cubes. Humidity, temperature, other competitor mushrooms/yeasts/bacteria/molds n such for nutrients in the soil. Too broad of a question to answer, sorry.

That being said. Maybe.

This is in Long Island, a moist forest area pretty close to a beach. Many different mushroom species growing in that area, including Amanita muscaria.

Ah, that's a let down. What about if I cover the area in cow dung, then proceed to spray the spores?

The thing is its like beefy1 and taoshroom said, its all about the temperature, humidity, etc for that particular species and being a fellow resident of the empire state i can assure you that our state has about the worst climate for cubensis besides maybe antartica
What you could do, and im not encouraging you to break any laws this is only a suggestion, is check out some of the awesome pf tek grow links on this site and some of the forums here in cultivation and start growing them yourself. Its actually quite easy and much cheaper then buying mushrooms from a dealer. Also the satisfaction of knowing YOU grew them probably makes the trip that much better

Ahhh i see, well its never to early to study up on how its done so when you do have the opportunity to grow you can have some knowledge to go on.
As for wild mushrooms in your area look up Panaeolus Cinctulus / Subbalteatus. Ive found them here in NY a few times, and they're about all this state has to offer when it comes to common actives. You might also have luck with the Gymnopilus Sp. As for Amanita Muscaria they have a whole different hallucinogen in them which is a delierient. Some people love them some find them to be quit unpleasant including me

You could try it, but P. Cubensis prefers a humid/warm climate, which New England does not provide regularly. That being said, if you have the extra spore water to go around, you could give it a try. You're probably better off putting your time and energy into indoor cultivation.

If you're not in a situation where you can cultivate, which it sounds you are absolutely not, you can still study study study. And then when you're done studying, study some more. You could always try your hand at edibles, I'm sure your folks wouldn't mind, and it would give you hands on experience which is very valuable in any hobby/field. Good luck.

Like stated in the thread before me by Molly, you can look into Amanita Muscaria. Luckily you live in an area where they are native to.

That was dumb.

Come back in a year and I'll gladly tell you how to grow cubensis outdoors in Long Island.

Really man? I'm turning 18 in a month. And I'm a lot more careful with hallucinogens then your average "hey let's get high" teenager. I've realized their potential, in spiritual and recreational environments. And according to some of the other posts I don't see how there could be some secret way to grow cubes in an environment not suited to grow cubes. Also, the fact that I'm believed to not be responsible because I'm under 18 is quite frankly... bullshit. Stereotyping people is wrong is it not? I've found that I possess a much... greater mental capacity then my peers, considering that at 15 I was reading Aldous Huxley while other's were reading teen drama's. Please don't classify me as irresponsible and reckless, for the sole reason that I'm 17, I find it rather offensive.
