lining a pan/tray?
    #15921651 - 03/08/12 07:50 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So I have some heavy duty aluminum baking pans that are VERY surprisingly getting eaten through (They are probably 1/4" thick)... is there anything I can paint on there that the myc won't eat through?

I'll probably wind up just using trash bag liners... but it would be nice if there were something I could coat the pans permanently in that would protect them...

Thanks

Try some dollar store food storage containers (tupperware) plastic trays>aluminum .

Lining them with plastic will help reduce side pinning. Pinning is primarily induced with FAE. with a plastic lining, as the sub contracts away from the walls, the plastic will stick to the substrate and prevent FAE with the sides of the tray. If you do not care about side pinning, then go with the plastic tubs from a dollar store.  Mycelium eats through aluminum.

I think I'm going to go with small trash bags/liners. The other benefit to this is I won't have to wash the trays after a cycle, just replace the trash bag...

Thanks again for the input...

The problem is, I already have everything dialed in for this size of pan. I can't find a 9x13x3 opaque tub with a clear lid.... and all of my FC's are designed to work with that size pan so...

I would love to change over now... but it would be cost prohibitive considering what I've already got into the pans/lids/ FCs... if that makes sense...
