Dealing with side pins (+pin porn bonus pics)

Heya, back at it again.
I've got some beasts growing right now, but unfortunately I used clear tupperware and instead of lining the inside with foil I wrapped the outside, but it apparently wasn't secure enough and light got in. I have some pretty massive amount of side pinning going on.
Not too worried about it, just thought I'd check for some of your favorite methods for dealing with them during picking and afterwards. My current plan is to just wear gloves, and somehow remove the substrate from the tubs and pick as best as I can, however, if I do any damage there will most likely be exposed grain. So, worried about this, and rot from smaller pins I can't get to.
Anyways, enjoy the pics. The one good thing is apparently the side pins are enjoying a nice microclimate. They are huge already. It's pretty dry where I live so I imagine they are enjoying slightly higher humidity. These are mexicubes spawned to coir/verm exactly as per "From syringe to print using rye"

if you have the materials, pop the cake out of the tub and put it into a martha. it can then fruit out in any direction....

Just cut them off as close the surface as you can. The "stump" won't rot, it is still made of strands of mycelium connected to the main mass, it will still be alive, just the same as aborts.

Yeah, and that's what starts them - not light getting in, but the substrate liking the pinning conditions along the side better than on the top. Just pick em, they usually pull up in one piece and no problems.
