Metabolites (mycelium "piss") or something more serious? PIC!
    #15914987 - 03/07/12 05:09 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I decided to knock up some pint jars (a month ago today) with a ml of MS solution each. I have 3 pints and many 1/2 pints.
Everything is fine aside from this one jar which moved slower than my other two pints. What you can see near the bottom that is NOT fully colonized is the only spot like that. Looks fine, just slow.
The jar has this yellow spot in one of the least pleasing photographic spot on the jar, but maybe someone will be able to tell. You may also be able to see one of the few pins that have started growing (to the left of the yellow)
I have smelled the jar through the GE port and it smells fine.

This is the first time I have come across this, should I birth it as soon as that last spot covers with mycelium? (should be by tomorrow morning)

Does this look like it could be something more serious?

Thanks for the help!

looks like metabolites.
You're having problems, because you used pints.

Oh yeah I know, if you told me to throw this jar out my window I would have without worry (except for maybe the squirrels)
I just filled 3 pints because I ended up with extra substrate and had 3 extra pint jars laying around. This experiment will not be repeated.

Thanks!

Its actually not mycelial piss, mycelium doesnt really Piss, those "metabolites" are actually antibiotics, not waste products.

This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness.

There's a part of every living thing that wants to become itself: the tadpole into the frog, the chrysalis into the butterfly, a damaged human being into a whole one. That is spirituality.
