have you fruited a batch using a PC not up to 15psi?

just wondering. i used a 10psi cooker for a small experiment that i never completed, but grew nice myc in jars. if the myc grows nice and strong and without any sign of mold or discolorations, both in jars and later in substrate/chamber, is it safe to assume the fruits would be okay to ingest?

yes, even if the substrate gets moldy while fruiting you can still eat the fruits, its mycelium. you eat and breath mold spores everyday too.

It's possible to fruit them without any contaminates and you will surely be able to eat them (unless you've let them rot).
Before one of my first runs with my pressure cooker, one of the rings of my weight fell off and the batch was only cooked for 90 minutes at 10 PSI. I didn't realize until after they were cooked and inoculated but they did just fine.

Yes it's fine. Some people steam sterilize their cakes with just a pan with a lid, aka no additional psi.

cool, thanks for the info. worth another shot then w/ that PC on hand... and a bit more preparation
btw, from what i recall the inoculation attempt was fairly haphazard... i recall pouring some water from a new generic bottled water into a sake cup, and scraped a small amount of the spore print into the cup and covered temporarily. then used a basic plastic syringe (no needle), which was also inside the PC to suck up the spore filled water and quickly removed jar tops to inject. pretty ghetto, but it still managed to make a good myc in the jars.
turned out the jars were not hydrated enough and it did not make a good substrate. after several days of growing it finally picked up some mold (keep in mind the "tub" was even more ghetto-rigged and not secure from contams in the air

I used a PC for grains that would only reach 10-12 PSI for time with no issues.
I think the reason you got mold is because of your syringe making. Bottled water is not sterilized. You can have clean growth and then taken over by mold later because of your syringe. What do you mean by "tub" also? You need to let your jars colonize before you do anything with a tub. Are you incubating your jars in something? If you made your jars to the recipie of 2:1:1 verm:brf:water they were fine. Just follow the tek.

My first time.. i had a pc that had no pressure regulator on the top... cooked it for 90 mins, on the hot side.. worked fine for me at no psi... once upon a time
never worked again though
