Brf Agar Question
    #15914893 - 03/07/12 04:50 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I was looking through agar teks since I now understand the utility of agar.

This tek appealed to me, Brf Agar Substitute.

Instead of using the 5 grams of brf, could I replace it with 3 grams of malt extract and 2 grams of agar?

Will produce the same result?

I find that using the brf made the sides of the pint jar messy and the growing medium uneven.

Thanks!

Wouldn't that just be a standard malt extract agar?
Are you asking if you can use the jars instead of petri dishes?

Yes.
A lot of people are using agar in those jars now and it works quite well.

Thanks!

And yes, it would be the regular MEA agar recipe. I just want know if I could brew the mix, pour into jars, and then pc those jars so I dont have to pour them in front of a flowhood.
