Refrigerator plate storage. Ziploc or not?
    #15912961 - 03/07/12 07:56 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I just went through my culture storage fridge and tossed out every plate older than 6 months. I'm a plate hoarder. I didn't count, but there were certainly over 200 of them!

So now I have this reasonable number of plates (a few dozen) to keep in the fridge. I've always put groups of same-strain plates in a common Ziploc bag. But now that I have a chance to completely reorganize, I could potentially use a bunch of petri dish holders I once bought. It would be easier to find stuff in them if I didn't use bags, though.

Do other people store their plate cultures without putting them in plastic bags? I always figured it was one extra barrier for the mycelium.

Parafilm wrapping of the plates is a given. I didn't think I needed to mention it.
