There is a four year old post about this ,but it was rather inconclusive. This is the casing I'm using http://www.shroomery.org/54/50-50-Casing-Tek I'm using the updated one with calcium carbonate and crushed oyster shell. P.S. I don't have a microwave either (I think they make people lazy),but I do have a water bath canner.

http://www.shroomery.org/8434/Ryche-Hawks-Growing-Substrate This is what I'm using. I just replaced the finch seed with WBS. The link in my first post is a tek which uses sliced cakes for a bulk grow.

Use a steamer and just boil the jars. The steam will sterilize. I think it's boil from 60-90

A casing should be pasteurized not sterilized.
Bring your casing to field and put this into jars. Put the jars in a pot with water in it. Cover with AL foil and put a meat thermometer through the foil and into the casing. Watch the thermometer. When the casing reaches 140F turn the stove off and leave the pot on it. Check the temperature every 10-15 minutes. This should keep the casing in between 140-160F. Keep it in between these temps for 1.5 hours. Let cool and case your tray

WHY Case????
a thin layer of verm will do just fine, no pasteurizing needed

A thin layer of verm would most certainly be considered a casing layer, but I enjoyed the contradiction nonetheless.

If you are doing Cubes, you do not need a casing layer and it would just be an extra step for nothing. Now if you are talking about breaking up your WBS into a bulk monotub, that is not "casing" That is mixing your spawn into a bulk substrate and you do not need to sterilize for that, only pasteurize. And it is easy, look up Damions 5050 Coir tek.

qft. Spawning to bulk and applying a casing a layer are two completely different things. A casing layer for cubes is pointless.
