MS syringe to petri dish contam

I prepped 12 dishes, I inoculated 3 with a spore syringe, left one sitting out as a control, and stuck the rest in the fridge. It's my first attempt at agar work (with a glove box). The three have become colonized with nasty pink stuff, but the control is clean. Could this mean the syringe is contaminated? I did use it once prior to this. And if my sterile procedure wasn't good enough, would I be seeing visible contams on the control dish?

its easy to have a contam from ms prints are not 100% sterile. or your control didnt get a contam because it was never opened...sterilize yourself, materials and the glove box better?

Control dish was clean, but all three you used the syringe on showed the same contam? High five dude, you've proven your syringe is bad a couple months ahead of the typical grower.

If there's mycelium, you may be able to transfer some to a clean dish and salvage.
(One control dish isn't 'proof', but it's good enough for me.)

More than likely it was something you did. If you bought your spores from a trusted vendor most lkely its not their fault. They have good reviews and are "trusted" for a reason. I think the way to do agar in the future is to make/sterilize them yourself like billy said, and Go from LC or take a clone. (Or your own spore print maybe?)

The syringe was from a reputable vendor and I'm not blaming them. I did use it once prior to inoculating the petri dishes. I didn't replace the little blue plug, I just put the cap on the needle and put it back in the fridge (in a ziploc). Maybe that was a bad idea. I'm gonna try my own spore print next.
