Mushrooms deflate and bruise when I open my case...
    #15909373 - 03/06/12 02:49 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So my friend set me up with a small tupperware with one large cake inside. He told me to spray it with water every three days and open the top up and fan it every day.

Everything was going great till one of the mushrooms grew so tall it was about to hit the top of the container. I called my friend and asked him what I should do. He said it's fine to just take the top off.

I took the top off and the next day the heads of all the mushrooms had deflated and turned dark black/brown and most of them bruised blue.

I have a large clear plastic storage container to hold the cake but there are no holes in it (for the shotgun model). I'm planning on drilling holes in it later this week (ive got to find a drill).

have two questions:

1. Should I pull these mushrooms now? Or keep letting them grow..

2. What is making them go to shit? Can i put the small tupperware opened container in my larger storage container (without holes)??

thanks for any help

Deflated? Are the caps turning to a plane? That is the normal cycle of growth. As far as the black, it is probably spores from the other mushrooms, the blue is the psilocybin oxidizing.

1. I'd like to see them, but go ahead and pull them. They sound ready.

2. I doubt they are going to shit, but putting them in a closed container with no FAE isn't too good of an idea unless you plan on misting and fanning 3 times a day.
