Here's one of my 12 jars.. I got them in a more consistance 72-74 degree spot and they seemed to pick up in growth...
How's this look, it seems like where I would have put the spores on the glass its not so rompy but towards he outer of the growth is there it really gets rompy ..
If anyone got a good pic of a bacteria jar you should throw it up for us first timers....
First two I wanted to show the more then not so white parts... Third is a bit more thick and white on the bottom right

Those jars are fine. I would keep the foil on a little bit tighter though. At all times. Keep them out of the light and you should have some fruits before too long!

You don't have to keep them out of the light. You don't need to keep the foil on if you don't want to either. My jars grow in a normal room not in darkness, and I always take the foil off. You can grow them in the dark with the foil on but you do not have to. I am assuming you have a filter/micropore tape on the lid.
Your jars look great, you did a good job

I don't understand how there isn't an agreed upon method to colonize PF cakes. I read like 5 threads in a row where everyone is saying to make sure to expose the holes in the lids all the time, and that light doesn't matter during this stage.
Then you read something like this that basically is the complete opposite.
Oh well, I suppose the sure fire way to learn is just to do your own trial and error.

You should remove the foil completely. Foil inhibits GE (gas exchange) and cover your noc points with micropore tape. If you want to speed up the time, get those jars up to 80-82*F.

Light doesn't matter during colonization. Keeping the foil on inhibits gas exchange which just slows the process down.... The sure fire way has already been set in stone. There are multiple OMC that illustrate the differences between incubating, not incubating, light, no light, foil, no foil. It has been done so many times, I'm just confused how misinformation is still circulating the net.

The only problem with leaving the foil on is if your filter was wet then the foil can prevent it from drying. A wet filter will not work very well. I personally have never run into this problem though and am repeating what I read elsewhere. People leave the foil on because they believe that it helps there filter out, but I find micro pore tape to do just fine on its own. Also I believe that you see so much conflicting information because both ways can work. Leave them in the dark they will grow, leave them in the middle of a regular lit room they will grow. All I am saying is you don't need to, experimenting for your self is the best way though your right.
When looking up information look at how old a post is, also look for trusted cultivator posts. That being said I am not a trusted cultivator, but personally I have found light and no foil not to matter.
