I just signed paperwork to drop my case against my employer for x amount of dollars and to never seek employment with them. They want me to sign a w4 since it's been longer than a year since I've collected a paycheck from them. Is this standard in a settlement procedure?

How long can the jury deliberate. Can they stay there for years, preventing civil unrest.

I’d imagine they’d be given a week to work it out then it would be declared a mistrial

It is a normal part of being paid by an employer. They need you to fill out the form so that they can withhold income tax from your settlement.
Note: I am not a lawyer but I previously worked with multiple state tax agencies and the IRS for 10 years.

As long as they want. If they're still deliberating, no one is going to stop them.

I've seen juries deliberate for weeks.

Enlil I had a lot of problems with an auto shop, I can try my best to give brief details but wondering if I could pm you more. My car was there for almost a month, they lied on the bill about how long the car was there, did an unauthorized repair, didn’t explain to me what they were doing and hung up and didn’t call me back, documented they put over 100 miles on the car, which I suspect they drove even more, and damaged the interior of the car. It was hell to go through. I took it to another shop and they fixed it and said the other shop charged me too much money. I complained to the BAR 3 times, first time they didn’t take it seriously, and also don’t have any record of the complaint but my phone records proved I called them. Second time they didn’t believe anything I said. Third time they asked them to participate in a partial refund. The shop said no. The shop was dishonest throughout everything and everything. I’m in the middle of obtaining my phone records and hoping it’ll help my case. Someone told me a judge can help me with the customer service problems. I believe I have a stronger argument now. Should I pm more details or post them here? I still need to obtain the transcripts from the BAR. They don’t really tell you what the shop says other than they’re denying everything. They screwed me really bad.

The first question is: How much are you out?
Most auto repairs are going to be in low dollar amounts such that they end up in small claims court. Assuming that to be the case for you, I wouldn't expect to be able to present a whole lot to the judge. Small claims is sorta the wild west of law, and judges do not want to hear a lot of extraneous stuff. The BAR stuff is almost certainly not going to be relevant to the judge unless there's some kind of smoking gun in there which is unlikely.
My advice is to get the mechanic that actually fixed it to testify for you. If he can't in person, many judges will accept testimony by zoom or phone. Failing that, a letter can help as well. If you can get the mechanic to say that the other mechanic failed to repair and did this and that wrong, you are likely to be able to get a judgment in the amount you paid the first mechanic.

Interesting. I might have to let it go. I didn’t leave a review either because someone told me they would probably sue over it. What are your thoughts on that and also could they sue over what was told to the BAR? It seems the BAR is horrible for disputes. Are they actually useful in cases?
Also I figured it’s common for people to be upset for a long time after getting screwed, any tips for helping letting it go?

I don't know what state you're in, but most states have a "litigation privilege" which shields you from a libel suit for reporting anything to a court or administrative body like that. As far as suing you for a review, they might...but that gives you an opportunity to countersue them in a real court. It might not be worth the hassle, but it's an option.
If it were me, I'd write a truthful review.

I’m in California. It looks like I have to send a demand letter, would the BAR case count? A truthful review would absolutely make them lose business, the truthful review is horrible. They gave me like 6 invoices throughout, and took one out of my glovebox to make me look like I was lying. They knew I was going to complain. The owner use to be a cop. I know they’ll be difficult so I’m a little worried. So I need to build a solid case first but I may need help. I can try contacting the other shop, I know they were furious and told me to complain. I’m still looking at my options. This incident bothers me almost daily, I can’t stop thinking about it. There might be a smoking gun in the BAR case. Should I try to get the BAR to reopen the case?

The BAR isn't going to help. You don't have to send a demand letter at this point.

Would they sue if I left a light review posting my phone records and the invoices and simply saying the didn’t call me back not even on the day my car was ready? Could I mention the guy was wildly inappropriate with my family without being sued? What would be a good example?

First, there's no way to know whether or not they'd sue you, but I doubt they're going to sue for a bad review. Just be truthful in it.
Also, if they DO sue you, since you're in California, they would be subject to an anti-SLAPP motion which would likely end the case and cost them tens of thousands of dollars in attorneys fees. I bring the motions all the time and make a good chunk of income from them. Let me know if you're sued, and we can talk about it in private to determine whether this is something viable.
Either way, if you're sued, it just makes it that much easier for you to sue them back.

Does a cop have any legitimate ground to tell us we cant climb on the roof of the apartment building we rent? Me and my girlfriend were on the roof of the apartment building were we rent an apartment they told us we couldnt be on there was just wondering if they could actually do anything.besides suggest we get off.

I guess it depends. If the owner of the apartment told you to get off of the roof, the cop could MAYBE enforce that as a trespassing issue. It's a bit of a stretch, though. Most likely, the cop would just say it's a civil matter unless there's some sort of danger you're posing to yourself or someone else in the building.

Thank you for the advice!
