I'm not sure how familiar with tax law you are, feel free to not answer if you don't know. But I moved to Idaho in the past year from California, but I still work remotely for my employer who is based in California and California taxes have still been withheld from my checks. How do I go about filing my taxes? Do I pay taxes in both states? Only one? etc.

I recently got pulled over for a traffic violation. The officer took my license and went back to his car to check for any warrants, etc.
When he walked back to my car, he asked why I was acting nervous. I didn't have drugs or anything illegal. I am naturally nervous around police, but I didn't think that my nervousness was visible to him.
After he asked why I seemed nervous, he asked if I had any drugs in the car. I said no of course. He then asked if I had ever been arrested for anything like that before. I told him that I had, and he asked when and where, etc. I think this was a trick question to see if I was lying to him or something.
After I explained the WWWWW's of my previous arrest, he asked me a couple more times if I had drugs in the car, I responded no, and he let me go on my way, without even citing me for the traffic violation.
1) So my first question is, could he have searched my car if he wanted to, using the fact that I seemed nervous as probable cause? Obviously he didn't search my car, but I think that's because he thought I was telling the truth, because I confessed to my previous arrest (for drug possession).
2) WHen they take your license back to their car to check for warrants, they can also see previous arrests and convictions too, right? I assume that he saw my previous arrest and that is why he asked if I had been arrested before. Because if I said no, then he could confirm that I was lying and maybe use that as probable cause.

Hypothetical. I live in Texas for the record.
Let's say I advertise a ring on cragilst and stand in a position of "wait" with a gun hidden but ready, out of view. (all this in my own house, but in country where it's illegal to just shot a gun or any reason you wish) Let's say the guy never had any intention of buying it and just robbing us, then let's assume he pulled a gun and demanded the jewelry and I then pulled mine and shot him, in my home after he threatened us with his own gun.
Is it legal to draw my own weapon and shoot him?
Would it help to have everything recorded?

i guess im asking, if you were going to launder money, how would you go about doing it?
If I were going to launder money, I'd start a service business that is unregulated. Perhaps a mobile detailing company.

Public defenders are paid by the state, so they only do what the state requires them to do. Expungements are the kind of think you hire some attorney to do for $500. The internet is crawling with expungement attorneys.

You have to file in both states, but you'll probably find that the state you live in will largely come out to zero taxes paid. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. TurboTax can handle it just fine.

Maybe. You being nervous isn't necessarily enough, but it's close, and he may or may not have seen enough to justify a terry frisk of the car.Quote:

That depends on the database he's using. He can probably see any arrests in that state, but not necessarily anything from another state. He can almost certainly see any convictions.

If he's got a gun drawn on you, that's enough to justify use of deadly force in every state absent other facts.
It may or may not help to have everything recorded. If the recording shows that your story is as you said, it'll help. If it shows that your story is somewhat different, it may hurt.

Given how often you respond, it might be too late for me to do anything by the time I get your advice, but awhile back I asked you about an insurance policy my grandma had and how likely they were to pay out or if there was really much I could do about it. It's since been denied. They say the medical reports show she didn't qualify when she answered the questions (that she was diagnosed with copd before she told them she didn't have it).
They're paying back the premiums she paid. It's far less than what I would've gained if they paid out though.
Could this be seen as them just trying to pay me off and get me off their case without paying the policy out, or are they kind of just doing me a favor?

They have to pay the premiums back if they're saying the policy was void from the beginning. Whether it actually is void is something that you'd have to take up in court if you wanted to fight it. That'd mean hiring a lawyer.

Is it true if I hire a lawyer to fight it, that they have to pay the costs? I read that somewhere trying to understand all this for myself. I don't know how true it is though. That will basically decide whether or not I seek out a lawyer. I may have asked already but I don't remember.

That depends on the terms of the underlying contract. If the insurance contract has an attorney's fees clause, the loser of the suit will have to pay the other party's attorney's fees.

Proving that you've been with her only proves you've violated the protective order.
Yes, she would have to be involved in getting the order removed.

If some bitch at my pharmacy breached the HIPAA act and told local police about my medical records, perscription data and other personal data, would that be grounds for a lawsuit?
And what type of attorney would cover such a suit?
Furthermore, I believe the bitch broke this law
https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/?id=144.293
No warrent, or court order.. Cop asked the pharmacist and that was that.. She told him everything. I never got a notice.

The best plan is to tell her to stay away and call the cops if she comes over. If she wants to see you, she needs to have the order withdrawn.
You can't really get it withdrawn otherwise.

There are plenty of HIPAA lawyers out there. You might have a hard time proving the disclosure, but finding a lawyer shouldn't be hard.
