What would cause a good clone LC to not take off in new grain spawn?

I took a biopsy under sterile conditions of a large invitro fruit when I birthed PF jars of Cubensis PES Hawaiian and dropped it into a Karo LC. Over a month and change, the growth was quite beautiful. It spread into an orb an inch and a half thru. Besides this culture, the liquid culture stayed totally clear.
A couple weeks ago I shook it and broke it all up, and on Leap Day I inoculated seven large WBS spawn jars with 2+ml each. A week later now and no signs of growth at all in any of the jars. This hasn't been my experience with LC in the past - by this point I've been able to see tufts of white forming in many places.
What might cause such a great clone LC to simply do nothing on birdseed?

No insights? Still no growth in the last 24hrs of course.
It's identical cousin, a GT clone taken from a WBS>Coir grow, has shredded up a dozen PF cakes like nobody's business. Under 2 weeks, fully colonized. Yet this PESH clone from a regular PF cake, no luck on it's new birdseed home. SEVEN quart jars, no growth!

You should test your LC on agar before use. It's quite common for an LC to look fine when it is actually contaminated.

The fact you used a simple sugar quite possibly has something to do w/ it. Your mycelium was all used to easily digested sugars. Then you put them on grains, which are complex carbs, so they have can't assimilate. Basically like you/us eating a bunch of sugary foods for months, then trying to ingest pasta or whole grains.

That's one thing I thought, and the ease of consuming BRF as their first food wouldn't help. Starting spore on grain would be best for raising a culture this way then, cloning from a grain grow (or GLC to make grain-hardy shrooms via PF cake). That'd also be why my GT clone has been a trooper.
I use LME for liquid cultures now so I bet I won't see much of this problem anymore.

The other PESH clone has been put to 3 quarts rye. We'll see how it does.
I may also inoc a PF cake, if it doesn't work, to see if it indeed manages what it grew up on instead.

At eleven days, some VERY small spots of fluff have turned up in the birdseed of the first inoculations, mentioned in the OP. But just over TWO days and strong healthy growth is visible on the Rye from the later clone, from the same BRF cakes.
I can attest several apparent variables. Multi-spore grow of many diff cakes can produce clones in variety almost that of ms itself and some may take to grain, and varying grains at that, better than others. Perhaps the first clone being invitro could have gotten it off to a start for strange conditions. I don't think birdseed is as good as rye for several reasons, including consumption consistency, consistent hydration, looseness, spaciousness and breatheability, not to forget tidiness.
