My first grow. Have a couple questions...

I've been hanging around this site for just about a year now, and finally decided to start my first grow. About 3 weeks ago, I inoculated 8 BRF cakes. At first, I kept them in total darkness at a steady 76 degrees F. After reading more about lighting, I started exposing them to ambient light (just a few days ago)
5 of the jars seem to be fully colonized, while the other 3 still have some exposed BRF mixture... I think the reason for this is, when I inoculated them, I started running low on spore solution and had to skimp on the last 3 jars.
I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance here... what do you guys think? Should I go ahead and birth the 5 jars now, and the remaining 3 when they are ready? Or should I wait for all the jars to be fully colonized and birth them all at the same time? Also, how are they looking overall? Like I said, this is my first grow and I'm always paranoid that I'm doing something wrong.

Your jars look good. Don't forget to let them consolidate for at least 7 days after being 100%. I let mine go for around 21 days in consolidation.
You can birth them as they reach past the consolidation period, or wait for the others to hit the same mark.

Thanks! I suppose I am being slightly impatient. I made my SGFC a couple days ago. I'm thinking I need to go out and buy more perlite though. I currently have one 12qt bag of it, and it seems like it won't quite be enough to reach the 4 inch mark in my fruiting chamber. In any case... I will post more pics as the process continues!

Yea, you def. want to hit that 4-5" mark.
I bought a 4 cubic foot bag of 3-4 (course) perlite for around $30. Gotta love the local hydroponic store.

So it's been just shy of a month now and all my jars are fully colonized! A couple of the jars that were farthest along have started to pin!! It's very exciting! I have one small concern though... I was planning on birthing them tonight or tomorrow, but now I have to go out of town in a couple days and wont be back till Sunday. Would it be alright to leave them in the jars for almost another week? Or should I birth them, dunk and roll, put them in my sgfc and come back on Sunday hoping for the best?

Personally, I'd leave them. You can birth the ones w/ pins, dunk & roll. I'm sure they'll be fine for a few days neglected.
