Germination near standing water...

Oh man I'm steamin mad at my own stupidity. I use the brf substitute for agar that I found on this site to germinate my shiot on, then transfer a wedge to my grains. It's always worked well for me. Here's the problem...->made me some new lids, u know with the self healing port. I figure that after I took them out of the pc once they returned o room temp the pressure would equalize back to normal. Boy was I wrong.
2cc's were sucked right into the jar.
I realized the obvious answer is a re-do of the whole deal, sadly that was my last 2cc's of that strain soooooo I propped it up on its side so some of the 'agar' is exposed to air (about 3/4 of it). But there is a small puddle in the corner. Am I wasting my time by waiting to see what happens? Im really hoping I'll get some growth on the one side so I can transfer to a jar done right.

Really? Theyre the tall narrow 1/2 pint'ers. Maybe it was more then cus there's about 1/8 in. Of solution when it's sitting flat.

You had residual negative pressure in a grain jar??

I would just try to keep that puddle to one side so the spores have a place to germinate and transfer some mycelium to a new jar ASAP.

Sry for the confusion. I'm using this tek...
http://www.shroomery.org/8514/Agar-substitute
Yes it's a thin Layer of brf, no verm. And your correct, the jar is just a sub for the petri dish.
I equalized the pressure using that method for the other 2 strains I was working with unfortunately the first jar took all that was left of that syringe. Afterward I equalized the pressure in that jar I'm just hoping I'll get some growth in it even though there's standing water in the jar. I have them stored on tipped to they're side so about 3/4 of the brf is exposed to air.

Why don't you just add a polyfill or tyvek filter to the lids so you don't haven't to worry about the pressure.

I read them. I've done the exact same thing with the BRF agar substitute in half-pint jars. If you would have had a filter on there in addition to the self sealing port the pressure would have equalized on it's own before you even inoculated them.

AFAIK he has a SHIP but no GE port, and is using a jar as a petri dish alternative.

You sure? OP's not making 1/2 pint PF jars here... we're talking about a much smaller volume of BRF + verm mix in the jar (assuming this is the case, at least).
Not saying you're wrong at all, especially as I've never done this. But just saying if 1-2cc per 1/2 pint PF tek is good, it would seem off if it was also a good amount for a far smaller amount of BRF mix.
Also there's some assumption here on my part - OP didn't explicitly state they were using it in a very thin layer... But I assume they are based on the way they said they were using it as an agar substitute, and I believe that's what the tek in question calls for.
Seems to be some confusion in this thread. If not then it's just me who's confused Care to clear that one up, OP? Also, for the record, if your jars have no GE port to equalise pressure, remove the plunger from a syringe, apply a suitable filter medium (eg. stuff with polyfil), sterilise it, flame the needle and then pierce the SHIP with it. This will prevent your jar automatically emptying your syringe.
\ sorry i assumed they were quart jars i just skimmed ...

Right I know what I did wrong and how to do it right, thank you though. My question was will I get any growth in the one that I messed up.
