Need help with coir bulk substrate grow.

So I've been looking into doing a bulk coir grow after successfully completing a couple BRF tek grows and am trying to get all my information straight. I'm not trying to do a major bulk but just get a feel for fruiting trays instead of cakes. I have coco coir and from what I can tell, all the mterials I need but have a few questions and am looking for clarification on a few parts of this. As far as I'm concerned the gist is simply to colonize brf cakes or WBS as normal. upon 100 percent colonization pasteurize the coir/verm (this will be my bulk substrate) mixture. Is pasteurization really as easy as putting the substrate mixture into a pillowcase and heating it up to around 170 degrees for about an hour? after thats pasteurized you just break up the substrate and layer it in a mixture of the newly pasteurized substrate right? now when its colonizing, complete darkness and no FAE right? I've read to put it in a black trash bag for a few days while it colonizes. now once its ready to be fruited, how do you get the humidity up to adequate fruiting conditions? Thanks in advance guys and sorry if I sound like a straight derp, this is just what I'm putting together from random research through various teks.

Some of your info is a bit outdated. Don't pasteurize in a pillow case your nutrients leech into the water, your temp is a little high too. Watch RR's video on pasteurization using jars. There is absolutely no need to colonize your sub in the dark, so nix the trashbag. You want GE but not FAE during colonization. I have a two bulk grows in my sig links an a decent write up on lighting if you want to check them out. Good luck.

You have no sig.
But I do agree.

thanks fellas. I have another month or so before I'm ready to attempt this so there's still a lo of time available for research. I'll be looking into this jar pasteurization tomorrow when I wake up. What exactly is the difference between gas exchange and FAE? If I use trays as opposed to a monotub can I fruit them inside of my SGFC? I checked out those links in your sig and dear god man 11 oz's dry is a dream for me, I'd be happy for an ounce solid over these eighth flushes im getting from the BRF cakes.

i think the difference is one is expelled and the other is introduced? but dont quote me on that one and yes trays can be put in the SGFC

Yes you can fruit trays in a SGFC. As far as the difference between FAE and GE, I'll let you look that one up. Just do a quick search and you'll find it easy enough. Good luck!
