Instant Evolution * 1
    #15889578 - 03/02/12 09:18 AM (12 years, 2 days ago)

Have any of you ever felt further evolved after a trip? Not just thinking and seeing the world in a new way, but actually feel like you have evolved?
I felt as if i have after a few of my most recent mushroom trips lately (last few months)
Thing's like what seems would be an instantly higher IQ, faster brain activity, LONG lost memories, better memory, much more artistic, less stressed just fully feel evolved and it's really quite amazing what can happen with mushrooms if not used as just a way to get high.

Yes. Thats all i got to say.

--------------------
Something there is mysteriously formed,
Existing before Heaven and Earth,
Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging,
All-pervading, unfailing,
I do not know its name; I call it tao.
If forced to give it a name, I call it
Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

It's just a shot away..

Maybe more awakened, but not more evolved.  That's not what evolution is.

alot of psych heads - grey, hofmann, shulgin have made the claim that people evolved because of psychedelic plants and fungi...so yes.

Evolution by definition is change across generations.  Mutation on the other hand, instant evolution if you want to call it that, most often produces the loss of a gene and not the addition of new genes.  In other words most mutations are harmful and do not produce the beneficial types of things you're talking about.

I think it's more likely that you're just pushing your same brain/genetics to their limits, which is a form of mental gymnastics in a way.  Really you're just reaching the potential that was already there.

Ha!  Exactly.  I hadn't heard of this before, I'm not very big on going to the theaters. It looks like an interesting movie.

You should definitely read up on what those guys have to say, but I'll tell you that at least Terence Mckenna's stoned ape theory is completely bunk.  Because it relies on the idea of passing on beneficial mutations.  Any geneticist or anthropologist will tell you it's bunk.

I agree that eating mushrooms could have been beneficial for keeping our ancestors from going extinct, the way of the neanderthal, however there is no way that beneficial changes were passed on to subsequent generations.  I love Terence Mckenna btw.

edit, deleted this becuase i was stoned and totally not what i was talking about, the wordage underneath is all new as of NOW
the things they were passing werent necessarily DNA but they gained brain power and intelligence & creativity and taught one another, art, language, hunting, building, civilization, not from evolution of the body but evolution of the mind.
