Whoa.  Looks odd but OK to me.  Any possibility of taking a photo directly, ie not through the plastic?

Looks like 100% contamination to me. I would throw it out.

It looks like (maybe) Hericium sp. Maybe lion's mane or Hericium coralloides.

Maybe it is normal mycelium. I've never seen that happen before personally.

The top of that is covered in cobweb. See that stringy grey stuff that kinda looks spiderweb-ish covering the top of the mycelium? That's cobweb.

These pictures show it really well. That strange almost random greyish layer on top shouldn't be there. It's very light, loose, almost looks like tiny spiders made a web over your myc. It's cobweb, no doubt about that.

Here's a picture, look familiar?

Wow....a lot of misinformation in this thread...

That sub is not contaminated.  It looks quite healthy and strong.

Wait for 100% colonization and then expose it to fruiting conditions.

Good luck,

JD

That looks nothing like cobweb???

PEMMs:
That's some awesome rhizomorphic growth from mycelium. It's a good thing!

I see that sort of growth once my Hpoo bags settle in a bit. Keep doin what your doin!

Patching those areas wouldn't hurt as Ventestega said. That'll help get everyone in sync a bit too.

Here's some others that show your type of growth.
Extreme Example

Agar Example

BTW, What strain is that???

The cakes I took out a few weeks ago looked just like this.  The myc came up throught the dry verm layer on to it was so stringy.  Ended up sticking to the lid.  Everything has been fine so far for me.

One of the cakes that I put in the fruiting chamber actually spread some myc outinto the perlite.  I made a thread about it a while back. Heres a pic.

No need to patch or case whatsoever. Let it consolidate then introduce fruiting conditions.
