http://www.raspberrypi.org/#top
£21.60 for a linux computer with 256mb of ram, hdmi output, as well as an rca for hooking it to a telly, sd card reader slot, 2 usb 2 slots, ethernet and it's the size of a credit card.
I dont' know what I'm going to do with it but I'm getting one when my mate gives me my money back.

I picked up a PlugPC a few years ago which is almost the same thing but slightly more expensive, slightly less powerful, and slightly bigger. It's on its second power supply and still pulling double duty as IRC shell and NAS server.

Got 600 page visits a second and already both RS and Farnell are ordering in another batch. At this rate I'm hoping rapid electronics, or even ebuyer would order this in.
I can't find what power does it take in. I have a "universal" laptop power supply, rated up to 60 watts and gives out 20V

I think it takes USB power. 5V, and it might suck up an amp. I dont know? I think the connector is microUSB.
I have now 'Registered an Interest'. I guess thats a non-binding way of saying waiting list.

this would be great to run a small webserver (limited to a few clients) or a NAS. The fact that it supports HDMI it just awesome. Ive done quite a bit of work with Aruduinos, Im planning on writing some code that runs on the Pi and uses the Arudino to retrieve sensor values and fire a few relays.
Yeah that sounds like fun. I finally got an Android based phone last week and am about to start hooking some shit up to my computer to turn on/off on the go. I've never used Arduinios before (I don't know C yet, only assembly) but I have done quite a few projects with some PICs.
It would be cool to be able to access the Pi from anywhere, and monitor/control various devices hooked up to a micro.

I ordered mine and got an email today saying it was in-stock, but then it also said the shipping date was April 3rd. :/ Either way I'm glad to have one ordered, but it would kick ass if it shipped this week. Might email them... I want my Pi!

I believe its going to be marketed for education and basic programming ideas to kids. Hobbyists hope to put various flavor of linux on it and do just about anything you want, as long as you can program it. I suspect different ROMs will come out catered to different uses. I have read that its possible it may run a cut back version of android, and also that it may be able to control specialized kinds of hardware for low cost and energy (I was looking at FPGAs).

700Mhz ARM right?
i don't think most people realize how shitty that processor actualy is :/ it'll do basic crap, but there are phones for cheap that'll do far more.. without the need for an external power supply

A battery is not a power supply. The Raspberry Pi takes the exact same power supply as most modern smartphones, micro USB. You could hook it up to a cell phone battery pretty easily if you wanted to.

it can play full 1080p video and the more expensive model has ethernet. this would be the perfect home theater front end machine... completely silent and small enough that you can just throw on some velcro and stick it to the back of your tv.
you can keep the server where content is stored in the closet and stream everything over NFS or whatever.
this thing is very capable as long as you get creative with how to use it. will it play crisis? no. but it does some stuff a lot better than a $5000 super computer would do. forget the limitations.. focus on its strengths and youd love it.
ive been on their mailing list for about a year now. stayed up late to try and buy one. both sites were down almost instantly.. farnell sold out in 20 minutes. rs wasnt too much later. hopefully i can pick one or two up during the next round.

My husband's arrived on Monday. It's pretty cool. There is a specific type of Lego kit that you can use to build a little case for it.

I have mine too. Its real easy, and real cool. I have had trouble getting my wireless adapter to work on it. Its a cheap, blank wireless adapter though.
These seem promising too, http://www.amazon.com/MK802-Android-Google-Player-Allwinner/dp/B008BFXOZE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343256049&sr=8-1&keywords=MK802

I ended up selling mine back when demand was insane and they were back-ordered for months. Just wouldn't have had the time to do anything with it, especially without any housing. Once things get rolling with it I'm sure there will be so many awesome addons and all that.

Seeing as someones already necro'd this thread I may as well chip in a few Q's. I got a B+
1) Mine seemed kinda slow, as in their was a delay when typing, is that normal? Not sure if it's low power supply, faulty or just normal(wired Keyboard + mouse)
2) Anyone got a good guide for setting a pi up as a smart tv? If I could browse youtube for music and stream movies i'd be happy enough.

What OS are you running and which video settings? Pi can be horribly slow if it needs to process lots of video data.

Try RaspBMC. But I bummed out on it because it was too slow to be of much use.

I've installed Raspian (got the NOOBS preinstalled sd card cos it was cheap n I needed a micro sd anyway), 720p i think but I hadn't even got to the stage where I was able to run videos. I'd just booted it up and was on the pre-installed midori browser and there was a delay when typing in searches.
I was hoping to hook it up to a 720p monitor in my bedroom and stream music n videos but the display was weird on my 1080p monitor for my main pc and the delayed typing just made it a pain to use so I set it aside for the time being until I'd asked about the delay. Didn't wanna go to the trouble of setting it all up to realise it's a defective unit or something.
Maybe I'll try digging around for a guide for a stripped back web browser only kind of setup.

I tried to run regular Raspbian on it once and also noticed it was simply too slow to use. On Raspbmc, it sort of works, but going through menus etc. is just too slow to be of any use. Some plugins are so slow that they take like a minute or more to load a new menu, let alone actually play some content. That, combined with the hassle of local media companies continuously inventing new ways to make it unattractive to stream their content to platforms they are not directly dealing with made me icebox the Pi. Maybe I'll use it in some future project where its lack of computing power isn't so much of an issue. It should do fine for several (web) server applications or for domotics/robotics and whatnot.

its a good music player. Couldn't find the components to play videos without streaming. Looked hard for them. Alas that is the fun part of using it. Thinking about ordering up another one in time.

I've got the model B version (512Mb ram). I like to use xbmc on it. You can get a bunch of explicit channels, plus sports channels like RedBull. The video quality is fa-nominal. You can also use it as a cheap computer using Raspbian and control stuff over Cosm using the gpio pins. Be imaginative, creative, and integrate this item into your projects!
