Thought I'd just post my idea...

Just thought I'd post my idea. Instead of covering substrate in monotub with plastic or foil or whatever, I soaked a T shirt in water, ringed it out, stretched it over the tub and places on the lid. This keeps condensation from dripping onto the substrate, because it absorbs it...Plus it gets evaporated and the cycle goes round while keeping humidity. I think that condensation under the foil isnt too good for the substrate. Maybe its a good way to regulate substrates humidity if its too high, or not homogenic for some reason

The shirt is likely made with cotton, an organic material that is at a higher risk of inviting contamination. Stick to plastic.

Too humid?
Not possible.
I doubt this will work better than putting down a layer of wax paper or foil over the sub.

Also, You want evaporation to occur on the sub, if im not mistaken its a big pinning trigger.

Well I pasturised 2 lots of HP and drained them overnight. The pillowcase on the bottom was alot wetter than the top one (I put one ontop of the other to drain) plus when I crumbled up after pasturising I realised there was quite a few pellets of clay mixed in.(which changes the substrates texture) Basically saying yes it is possible for the substrate to be to wet (maybe humid wasnt the correct term...I'm talking substrate not the surrounding air) When I did the squeeze test, the bottom bag was slightly to wet... anyway, yes I agree that evaporation on the sub is a pinning trigger, but if it immediatly condenses causing huge blobs of water between the sub and the foil, than I rekon its stopping the sub from breathing

Other than the obvious contam issue, you're going to have too much AE w/ a shirt covering your monotub. You want CO2 between 10k & 20k PPM while colonizing bulk. Condensation is caused by the different temperatures inside the tub vs. the room temp. Colonizing bulk produces a lot of heat, +10 F... A bit of pooling water during colonization is no problem. When introducing fruiting, just dab up the spots w/ a paper towel. Or, if you want to be more sterile, flame the needle of a syringe & use the syringe to suck up the water.

The T shirt is between the tub and the lid so even less air exchange, and since Ive boiled them, they are sterile...seems to be working fine actually...nearly at 100% colonised and no pools of mycelium secretions, the substrate at good "wetness" looks good for now
