I don't think this is Clavulina cristata.  Maybe it's a Hericium species, what is the wood it is on?

Hericium alpestre might be possible.

You have the best references there.  Much better there than here in the US.  You must just be looking in the wrong place.  lol.  I missed going to the AMQ last year in Quebec but I was there the year before and I have my heart set on going there this year.  I dont even speak french the the canadian clubs in that area do but Its real fun and well worth my trip.  I will also pm you a link in less than 5 minutes but there is a lot more just PM me for more details.  And if you get involved with them make sure to say hi to me on there.  my user name is the same there

John

Make certain to get yourself the book
Le grand livre des champignons au Québec et de l'est du Canada.  http://www.amazon.ca/grand-livre-champignons-Qu%C3%A9bec-Canada/dp/2894353227

Its a really good book and I even own a copy.  The also have cd that is really useful.  There are a number of other good books fore your area. I probably own at least a dozen of them.  If you get that one and want more I can come up with lots of good suggestions.

John
