I do have a comment though on this:

To be fair, I should say that I believe the "Be Nice Policy," or "BNP" :wink: is a bit more than just the above - I think its more aimed at getting rid of flames; the types of situations where people are saying "HEY YOU'RE A FUCKIN IDIOT!!" and "OH YEAH SO'S YOUR MOTHER YOU UNPHILOSOPHICAL MOFO!! HAA!!" or "dude what the fuck are you talking about what are you some kinda dumbass?! here's how things really are, you blind fuck:.... yadda blah.." - I think THAT type of stuff should certainly be at least warned and "spoken-up-about," maybe even delete some posts if hostilities continue (and the main subject morphs into a clever-insult-match) in the same thread after a warning

well now I'm kind of just ranting about how I think the rules should go and I've certainly bent the BNP before in the past so I should cut this off..

Anyway, thanks for responding and clarifying that when posts are deleted there should at least be some type of indication left as to what went on..

You will probably call me an "assucker" for saying this, but I really feel those words were uncalled for. Mr_Mushrooms has done a lot for this community, and he has benefitted many with his intelligence and kindness.

Everyone makes mistakes, especially when under a lot of stress. I don't feel he deserves your harsh words for whatever mistakes (if any) he may have made.

Despite all mr. mushrooms has done (and there is alot) i just get the impression he enjoys control.  Alexs'  thread link is a perfect example, and i've come across it as well.  Dont really have a point, but those are the impressions i get from mr.mushrooms posts, and are only my opinion.  I dont care if hes under stress if its effecting his judgement mabye he's the one who needs a while to 'cool off'.

This is nothing new. Here's another example of "moderation" being used as a cover for personal attack.

i never saw that thread before alex, and franky its disturbing... does everyone not see how bad blood was created there because mr.mushrooms refused to talk out the issue.. malachi made some very good points and mr.mushrooms responded by listing the rules... it was absurd.... something needs to be done here and fast.

Questioning Moderator actions shouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe even personal dislike for posters shows through sometimes when Mods lock threads/delete posts/ban people.

Mods need to be kept in check too, us Mods aren't above everyone else. :tongue:

MM has done more for this community than most people who have posted in this thread can even imagine! The man has the good of the community at heart and no hidden agenda IMHO. He works for hours each day taking time away from his family to do the best job he can do here. He has undergone attacks, not only on him but on his family as well! But still he comes back and does his job, sure he's not perfect and the same can be said for all of us. have any of you ever seen the time and effort he takes in the support group forum to give encouragement and inspiration to misguided youth, no well I have!

If anyone has a gripe with any action he takes contact an admin and let them judge. I have yet to see any evidence that he does a bad job!

I would agree with Ripple, inasmuch as there have been times when I welcomed an intervention from MM because some bonehead WAS getting personal, and attempting to make threats to me. On other occasions on the S&P, there have been individuals who were just late adolescents 'going to class' merely to cut up and ruin the 'educative process', and MM has warned and disciplined their behaviors. Good for him! Someone has to do it to keep the peace.

Having a common interest in the Shroomery does not excuse ill-mannered a**holes from acting out their psychological problems here, or from berating or bullying others, and creating an atmosphere like a dysfunctional household where one is afraid to say anything for fear of being humiliated. If someone wants to rant, they need to know where, and sometimes they need to be reminded. Someone is sure to call me a suck-up, but most likely it will come from one of those who likes to throw-down for no good reason except to act out.
