A not so simple chamber

Take a box. In this case 4ft long, 2ft high, 2ft wide. Line box with plastic. Hook up a coolmist that will run 24/7 and a ultrasonic that will run every few hours to take the place of misting and you have this.

Hey Magash,
Mmy friend has this set up. He can not get the humidity to stay below 87% if he runs 24/7. He runs 17minutes of mist every 2 hours. The problem is that the RH drops to about 58% before the mist comes on again and brings is back to 87%.
Any tips on regulating it better? Are there timers that can have one setting per hour or more than 14 settings per day?

"though! I'de imagine the coolmist gives pretty good air circulation." The whole reason I did this I feel that constant airflow is key. I came up with this a long time ago the chamber is now a cutting starter for a friend.

Yes there are timers that go 14 times a day. Intermatic makes them. They are at home depo I believe.

My ferret has a cool mist humidifier-- but hasn't used it yet (waiting for school to get out in two weeks). You are saying this won't keep the humidity high enough by itself?

My friend heres ya! He has the Intermatic DT17C and it is 14 times a day. He still can not get the Constant RH he wants......

i agree-the foaf's chamber never went above 70something, so u will probly need perlite, but the cool mist on 24/7 is a huge advantage over the person fanning for fresh air.

How long is the hose comming out of your coolmist. I found that I had to keep mine short in the days I was growing.

Cool, but I didn't think it was a flow problem.

sorry, my friennd assumed that due to the shortness of your hose. <--( no wise ass remark from the peanut gallery)

Could you explain why the shorter hose would increase Humidity?

My friend has only been here a short time, but he is not so sure that is true. This appears to have plenty of pressure and mist.
The longer hose theory might apply to some setups that use wider hoses.......
