Hey so I found these growing in some cow pastures along Mad river. I was sitting around drinking last night and seen them through the fence. Alot of them were very light and yellow, but some of the darker ones are alot more heavy. I just want to know if they might be active, and I'll post more info if necessary. Thanks

Well, that looks like a pile of fungus to me. Separate them out or something?
Maybe someone with magic eyes will be able to sort through those, but I don't see any actives.

The yellow ones and likely the totally flat tannish ones with brownish gills are Bolbitius. Possibly B. titubans.
The dark brown ones with mottled black gills are probably Panaeolus papilionaceus.

You have Bolbitius titubans and Panaeolus papilionaceus. Psilocybin mushrooms do not grow from cow dung in California.

Right you are, I'll bet they can grow on poop in CA (like they do here) but from what I hear you're more easily able to find them in well-watered, well fertilized lawns. Areas that recently fertilized their grass, often with "keep off grass" signs, are high producing zones for Pan Cincts. But you will need to familiarize yourself with what the species you're looking for actually look like, macroscopically. Until you know what you're looking for you will be like a bat trying to find his way around in an ultrasound machine.

Head over to the coast OP, then you can search for Ps. cyanescens (although it's a bit late in the season).
I Mad River.
Edit: I don't know how far you are from the coast, I didn't see "along the Mad River" and assumed the town of Mad River.
Double Edit: Liberty Caps grow in California too, even if it's rare.
