Thats the going idea at the moment, but there is not enough evidence to just say yes, longer times means better potency though I lean towards yes it does..

Longer you wait the better, yeah. Or so it's believed currently.
I'm afraid we're going to look back on this and face-palm every time some newbie inquires about it... Just like how we have to correct amateurs every time they try to keep their mushies in the dark now.
--------------------
Actually not everyone was a noob. Being a noob is a very new phenomenon. Many people, the great majority in fact, were simply "beginners", "novices" or "new to mushroom growing". Being a "noob" is reserved, and in fact created specifically for and by, the newer, much more lame generations coming about.

Not a matter of how long really I would wait untill I see pins forming then your good to go anywhere from a week to a month. Once you get invitro pins your good to go though.

Assuming we are referring to Ps. cubensis:
About two weeks post full visual colonization @ 70~75degF... As little as 10 days at 78~80degF... And closer to three weeks for temps below ~68degF...
Fruiting temps between 65~75degF seem to be ideal
