you can roll em in verm right out of the bag, but if your a little on the paranoid side you can put the verm it in the over for awhile.

is it necessary to have the florescent light close to the FC? Im planning to fruit in my closet and was considering putting a 6500K florescent bulb in the ceiling light fixture...the FC would be about 5 feet away from the light. thoughts?

Also what is an ideal wattage for the light?

It doesn't matter. Just as long as it not too close to the FC to raise the temps and fry your cakes dry.
The best place for the light is directly to the side of the tub and slightly up. At like a 45 degree angle. Most light is processed through the stems.
I use a light directly overhead and see no problems. Good luck!
Wattage doesn't matter in a normal house sized room or smaller. As long as it's the right spectrum 6500k or close to that.

You may have the tall 1/2 pints (regular mouth). They will work i used them for my pf tek runs when i did them. I haven't seen the wide mouth 1/2 pint jars in years to be honest

Hi guys,
I mentioned before, in this thread that I'm attempting to do my first grow with pf tek. But I used drinking glasses ant two layers of foil.
Question about sterilization, I use a regular pot not a PC. So now I put my drinking glasses with substrate in pot and they are covered with two layers of foil. Won't they get too wet after sterilization? Maybe I had to tighten foil lid with some tape for steam not to get into those glasses and make my substrate too moisture?
Drinking glasses look the same as here http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pftek

How did psilocybe fanaticus grew shrooms in drinking glass with two layers of foil with holes covered? There was no GE

STFU noob...
foil on a drinking glass does not make a perfect seal. there certainly was GE.

I grew for almost a year without using any form of GE besides the lid being upside down. Grain LC's mushrooms still grow. Mushroom growing seems to be a slow growing hobby with most commercial growers keeping there methods close to them and not sharing.

Very nice tutorial, always good to see experience/knowledge spread. Thanks! I'm beginning to think my PF lid holes should be larger than just big enough for a 18G needle. possible 1/8 inch or 5/32 inch? I'm at 30 days since inoculation and many 1/2 pints are still only 70% colonized. At least no Contams.
Thanks all, Cheers!
