?POTENCY PROBLEMS?
    #1582783 - 05/27/03 10:51 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Hey. I have been working on a project off and on for about a year and have always had problems with potency. The mushies produced from the cakes took a strangely LONG time to fruit and did not create a desirable effect. I followed directions and used a pressure cooker each time. Has anyone else ever fucked up the potency?

no, its not really possible to mess up on potency...its not something a grower can regulate. If we could regulate it I would have some CRAZzzzzzzzzzzzzzy mushy! Are you sure they are cuby? hehe or are they gourmet?

Perhaps its the strain your using, some strains are exceedingly weak, especially if your comparing them to mushrooms you bought form some guy who has been growing for 5 years and knows what hes doing. Also, try using WBS and not the PF Tek cakes, i am not sure how much credence there is to it, but many say that the PF Tek gives weak mushrooms (not that i am knocking it because it is ESSENTIAL to anyone who is starting out).

Some also say shrooms grown from BRF are more potent.

i don't think the pf tek produces weak shrooms one bit... i just think you have to have the set up be real good, the ideal enviroment. you case them cakes and have everything optium, you should be fine

i recently tripped on 2 grams grown from the pf tek cased with 60/40. had about a high level 2 or low level 3 trip

I'm pretty sure that I had cubies, since that's what I ordered, and they were all different kinds of strains. I also tried rye substrate on the cubies and birdseed on the pan cyan species and had no luck. I think there might be something wrong with my heater or the way I innoculated them.. they were very slow to colonize, but then why did they still fruit?

Just because they fruit does not mean they are growing in ideal conditions. If you really think your setup is at fault, you should invest a few bucks into a hygrometer (I believe that's what they are called, they sell them at cigar shops).

Pan cyans are more difficult to grow than cubies. Try getting syringes elsewhere and repeat the process... you might want to try another tek just for the hell of it. Oh and stay with cubies for a while, Golden Teacher, B+ or EQ are good for starting off.

Cheers

well, if you're eating fresh shrooms then you have to eat a lot more. Some people are suprised at the sheer quantitiy needed to induce the desired effects, also try not to bruise them too much (if they're fresh) and remember to dry them properly (no heat is desired)
