HI ...My friend is planning to use rye as substrate instead of the PF-tek, but he s got some questions ...
-Its necessary to put at the upper part of the jar the dry vermiculite barrier?? -After lefting the rye in water all night...should he wait the rye to get dry the next day before inoculation?? -Its the polyfill filter indispensable??(im using cups with aluminium foil )
Well friends.thats it ..sorry for too many questions.. thanks for any answer...bye.

Well, due ive never done casing, i think i will do casing with half of the mycelium and with the other half ill use perlite...
I dont speak too much english so i dont know what do you mean with the word spawn...i im thinking using the rye instead of BRF and vermiculite..
Thanks,..

>Its necessary to put at the upper part of the jar the dry vermiculite barrier?? No.
Rye preparation: http://www.fungifun.org/grain/
You should use some kind of a filter, yes.
>-After lefting the rye in water all night...should he wait the rye to get dry the next day before inoculation?? Huh? You EITHER mix grain and water in a jar and sterilize OR soak grain in water until it?s saturated, fill in jars and sterilize.
The goal is always that after the sterilization the rye is completely saturated, but without exploded kernels and not wet on the surface.
