Why do people in my area just do drug deals openly on Facebook and in texts?

In my area, all the drug dealers like to just openly text or Facebook-IM you about drug deals. They don't even try to talk in code. They just talk about exactly what drug they're selling, how much it costs, how many, and where they're meeting you. Somehow (while I was using drugs) they made me comfortable buying from them while they were doing this. But now I feel stupid. There's no taking any of this back for me. This information is now archived on all kinds of servers and cellphone records. I'm so paranoid now. I feel like I might get randomly searched, and like I'll never be able to get a job with a security clearance.
I HATE THEM. Why do they deal like this? If I'm this worried about buying, shouldn't they be 10 times more worried about selling like this? What are they thinking?

Totally ridiculous to say that. It was your choice to deal that way. Hate yourself for wanting the drugs that badly that you couldnt keep your common sense in regards to how you procured it. You couldve said no or said nothing. You fucked up. Accept responsibility, dont going saying you hate someone else or act like your predicament is the fault of some else.

Examined in another way, the United States has 100,000 more people incarcerated for nonviolent drug offenses than all the countries of the European Union combined, despite the fact that the European Union has 100 million more citizens.

When you say they're posting "openly" on FB, you mean on status updates where anyone can read them? Or in private messages only you can see?
I also know some people who deal by text. It's stupid but I doubt anything would come of it unless they are also dumb enough not to delete their texts and they randomly get busted and still have them on their phone. I doubt cops are going to expend the effort to forensically track down somebody selling quarters.

The security clearance investigators do not have access to your facebook private messages.
I went through a rather major security clearance investigation a couple years ago and was eventually denied.
They basically only used what I said to the police. And what other people said to the police about me. It has nothing to do with what you say in private.
You seem kind of overly paranoid. Sure, facebook PM's and text messages are bad. And logged. However 99.99% of the time, nothing will come of it. You can increase your chances of getting away with it by 50% if you delete incriminating text messages as soon as you get them. And of course ask the people, quietly, in person, not to send any more messages like this.
I got a text message last week asking me if I could get acid. I was like....WTF, I don't even sell acid. And if I did I sure as hell wouldn't talk about it in text messages. People assume so many things just because I am a shroomery mod. But whatever, I just deleted it, no problem....
A couple days later the chick was like Hey, are you ever going to respond to my text message? I told her, no, absolutely not, I will not reply to that message. She understood.

Same in my area its sketchy as fuck. The cops caught a close friend of mine and read his textswhen i was talking to him about weed and they didnt do shit. So I think that they cant really do anything if they see the messages they just like put you on a watch list or something.
Now I wont text or shit at all and it pissed everyone off cause they think im being paranoid.

I think they could do something, but usually don't. Text messages can be faked, but I think there presence could be used to develop probable cause.

I run into this issue occasionally. If you politely explain the problem, most people will understand your point of view. I ask all of my friends to only discuss illegal things in person. This causes many illegal things to go undiscussed. Which is fine with me. No one is ever like "fuck you man, I want to talk about drugs on the phone!"
I only sell drugs to people I have known for 5 years or more, and would trust with my life. And never at any profit. This brings my customer base very close to 0. Which is exactly where I want it.
Nonprofit drug selling is great. When I explain to a customer that I bought this weed for $40, and I am selling it at the exact same price only as a favor, they leave kind of confused and they don't call me again for that.

when i had facebook 2 people i knew were setting up a deal for an ounce. price, location and it wasn't even on there facebook. some bitch posted a pic of her dank and one thing led to another. I don't care about text though. I know dealers that send out massive texts explaining what they got and how much.

It seems weird, but in some way, it seems like the people who do dumb stuff like this seem to go unnoticed for quite some time. It's almost like by not being paranoid, that they don't attract attention to themselves.
It seems like in the past, every time somebody goes all "Phone calls only use codewords" or 5 minutes after you talked to them "DELETE ALL YOUR TEXTS" or otherwise conducts themselves in a paranoid, acting guilty fashion, they end up getting busted rather quickly.
Note though that's not legal advice, it's just me musing on the law of attraction maybe?
