I can't believe it's not butter.....!!!
    #1579286 - 05/26/03 08:56 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

.........imagine my surprise when this container
started sprouting shrooms....blew me away.....
my only problem being the size of the critters....
can anyone identify the strain.....?

I thought they were Hawaiians....but so small....? the tubs about the size of
a brick.....so they only measure about 3 inches tall. The print was very small,
could this have affected this generation......?

......insango

I dunno....never seen the buttery substrate before...you might want to give a little more info about them, cross section a cap and see if the gills are attached to the stem or to the cap, give a better discription of color, they apear to be under a fluorescent light, it give them a blue green hue....and send a spore print to me   that can actualy help is both out...you for ID and me for a slide...

possibility of maybe 30 different species....a guess, Psilocybe semilanceata or
Psilocybe fimetaria... both tend to be small and pale but there a a few others out there that also qualify, I am assuming it was a grain based substrate...did the spores come from a vendor....or from an individual....

** there is a small yellow non-psilo that grows in my yard...dense packed red clay...it's waxy and as of yet I have never been able to get a spore print from them

Those appear to be classic Panaeolus cyanescens and there is a Hawaiian strain or two circulating around. Did you buy a colonized brick kit or use spores?

I bought the spores from a vendor, they were labeled Hawaiian....this was before i knew about the free spore ring  They were grown on grain and cased with pasteurized manure.

You should feel lucky since most people prefer pan cyans to cubensis and they are a bit harder to grow. The potency can be extreme so don't be fooled by the small size.
