This is my first find, an accidental one at that. I'm not 100% sure of all the terms used for describing the ones I found so I took two pictures.

and

Habitat: Found growing on the ground out of commercialized fertilized top-soil with perelite (I think).
Gills: same brownish tint as the cap.
Stem: off-white with brownish streaks, strong.
Cap: brown, white random dots, very smooth, dry.
Spore print: not sure what this is.
Bruising: Not sure if it's bruising but the bent cap on the one might be an indicator?
Location: Picked in south east USA [Central West Alabama]

To take a spore print you simply remove the cap from the stipe and set it on some paper, the mushroom will drop spores and you can see what color they are, crucial info in IDing almost any mushroom species. also, brusing means color change when touched.

Those are not active, nor will they print. The guys who "know what they're doing" don't always know what you think they do. You live in the right area to find your own. Do a little research, start with the rules thread of this forum. Near the end of the rules thread you will find some tips for id'ing actives, and some links to get you pointed in the right direction.

Thanks man!
So they ares nudes haha. Purple bands and a main patch grown together. Is that a consistant or fairly consistent description? And the original thread fungi usually grows in pairs and grows from dead trees?
As far as magic goes. I hope to be getting to that soon. Figuring it out as I go and scoping spots out for harvesting. Might be a bit too cold out and too rainy here right now for a good first trip.

a better description is; growing off of plant debri/matter, lacking an annulus, having pale lilac sporeprint and smelling fruity(like frozen orange-juice) there are several cortinarius species that look similar, but won't have the fruity smell, will have rust-colored spores and usually DO have an annulus to the OP; I thought you mushrooms looked like Agrocybe sp. but the gills appear to be free,(and I found no agrocybe with that charictoristic) so I can't say with any authority what-so-ever what it is

You mean the cortina (Cobwebby veil)? An annulus refers to a ring.

No problem, C. nuda has a unique taste as far as mushrooms go, though I wouldn't let them cook in their juices, that tends to make the taste funky imo.
