If you watch any national news broadcast - or really almost anything on TV these days - they always take time to advertise and promote their Twitter accounts. Twitter becoming a huge fad is old news, but I'm curious about how many people really use it regularly. This is especially brought to mind by the superbowl which Twitter happens to currently be exploding with "tweets" about it.
I'll avoid revealing my personal answer in order to at least keep this original poll post objective.

I don't really see the point of twitter so I don't use it.

My answer is also "no". I have an account, but I hardly ever use it.
I wonder why its so popular, then?

I use twitter a lot, not much for communicating with friends but for gathering information and for laughs. I started out following comedians and would check in once in a while as a form of entertainment. Then when Occupy Wall St. started I started following people on the ground, independent journalists, live streamers that would tweet when they were going to start streaming live, people live tweeting marches and nightly general assembly meetings.
And that, I think, is the real advantage of twitter, the instant spread of information and organization of people. Twitter has been an invaluable resource for Occupy Wall St. planning, executing, and alerting people of actions against tyrants and thieves, and I think that makes Twitter good for us and bad for them.
