A couple more questions
    #15761973 - 02/04/12 08:23 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

-Will cakes being birthed in an airtight container effect them? Do they need air flow?

-No spare verm, got pre-sterilized jars that you can grow out of without even taking out the cakes. Could I just use a spray bottle to keep it nice and moisturized?

-Is an hour or two of indirect sunlight a day, and otherwise complete darkness okay?

-When you go to pop a cake out of a jar, will it be covered in mycelium all over, even on the bottom? Or will it have to be flipped back over? (noob question, I know)

-How should I initially dry out my first flushes if I have dust everywhere and all my desiccant is in one sealed pack(multiple little packets, all in one plastic bag)?

-Can shrooms get contaminated after they have been picked and are being dried?

I know I could have googled some of this but I need to do some stuff in a few minutes. Thanks fellow shroomerites...

Thank you for your help. It's not as if I already stated I could do so, but was in the middle of something at the time.

yes, yes

-No spare verm, got pre-sterilized jars that you can grow out of without even taking out the cakes. Could I just use a spray bottle to keep it nice and moisturized?
yes

-Is an hour or two of indirect sunlight a day, and otherwise complete darkness okay?
no, not really. 12hrs light 12hrs dark is best.

-When you go to pop a cake out of a jar, will it be covered in mycelium all over, even on the bottom? Or will it have to be flipped back over? (noob question, I know)
It should be completely covered in mycelium, except for the dry verm layer, before you birth it

-How should I initially dry out my first flushes if I have dust everywhere and all my desiccant is in one sealed pack(multiple little packets, all in one plastic bag)?
Use a fan to dry it as much as you can. Dust isn't going to hurt drying mushrooms. When the fan can't dry them any further then place them in a sealed container with the desiccant.

-Can shrooms get contaminated after they have been picked and are being dried?
If you dry them in front of the fan first this shouldn't happen. Never place fresh mushrooms in a sealed container even if it's just for a day or two
