Quick question about PMP and perlite

Hey hey,
Decided I wanted to build a PMP as opposed to a SGFC due to my school schedule with inconsistent hours of being at class and not being able to mist/fan at the right times.
I planned on doing the SGFC at first and bought two bags of perlite, but now I heard geo-rocks or clay rocks (w/e) are better for a PMP. I was wondering instead that I could just put the air wands on top of the perlite instead of under it. I also have an aquarium heater that I wanted to use, considering the temps in my room are only 68. I want inside the tub to be at around 72-74 consistent. Could I put this under the perlite?
Any replies would be great.

I'd recommend using hydroton/geolite if you're going to go for a PMP. It's ~$10 for a bag and that'll be for way more than enough than you'll need. You need to keep the air wands submerged rather than on top because it makes the water bubble up, go onto the hydroton/geolite, and evaporate off it to make humidity.
And yes you can put a heater at the bottom, it works great. Add some salt to your water so you don't have end up with stagnant water.

Also, should I go with a dual air pump or just a single?

Any specific reasons geolite/hydroton supposedly does better for pmp than perlite?
Perlite certainly holds more water on its surface.

The only option would be to make a bunch of more cakes then use the perlite in a SGFC in addition to your newly made PMP

Who knows. Maybe because of the mess. I'd rather just have the perlite considering i already bought it!
People have used perlite for the PMP and they say it has worked. This is my first grow anyhow, and quite frankly, I might as well test it out.
If not, geolite next time.

I've been plenty happy with my perlite pmp thusfar. You surely will be too. I've not even been so bothered by what little mess there is.
If ya make a mess, be less messy!
