yeah and i found some shit

Panaeolus subalteatus: -----is that species active?

Found from spring to autumn grouped or clustered often in rings up to
two feet in diameter on open ground, freshly manured lawns, straw piles,
all types of compost, dung piles, and roadsides in Ontario and throughout
the USA (especially in Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Michigan,
Washington, and Oregon). Optimum growth on MEA is at 86 degrees F.
It occasionally occurs as a weed mushroom in commercial mushroom houses.

Psilocybe caerulipes:

Found in summer and occasionally autumn solitary or clustered on
decomposing logs and debris of hardwood trees (especially birch and
maple) in New York, New England states, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina,
Tennessee and Ontario.

what has to be the enviroment exactly for those, because i've looked tons of times on decomposing logs and even straw piles. i've just kinda hunted around for fun, but never have seen any actives. i live in massachusetts, is it just rare to have these findings? or am i just not looking hard enough?

Caerulipes is a pretty tough mushroom to find... I've seen it found once on these boards in 2 years.

Panaeolus subbalteatus- yes they are active, but weakly active.
Search horse dung piles and grass compost piles for them... and I don't care what mjshroomer tells you-- they can be found growing from horse dung and sometimes in grass. I've personally seen both.

Nothing too great... You cou search for Pan subbs if you have any horse stables around. Finding a gigantic fruting of subbs is really the only thing that makes them worthwhile. Otherwise you'd have to stockpile them for months to collect/dry enough for a decent experience.
