Hey guys, was told not to apply a casing layer for cubes and just spawn to bulk which consists of coir and Verm. Now tht I am thinking. My apartments humidity is horrible due to winter conditions and having to heat the house. What would you guys do in this situation. Is it safe to apply a casing layer to my tubs after the bulk is colonized or is it to risky/late for that? Im not sure if your suppose to wait till bulk is colonized or I should have added the casing when I spawned to the bulk. Can someone please give advice on what I should do about my coir/Verm and if a casing layer is necessary when you use coir/Verm and have low humidity in the environment/room that the tubs are in, can you tell me a recipe and if it's safe to add casing layer after bulk colonizes or another alternative to casing please thanks guys

You can case either way, or anytime in between if you like. If you don't case, no problem though with bulk. Verm will soak up plenty of water.

I usually case bulk at the time I mix the spawn. It does a couple things, keeps contams out of the bulk while the spawn is running, reduces side pins by providing an extended fruiting area on top, and it makes harvesting a bit easier. I don't see that it improves the harvest though, I seem to get the same weight off each tub whether or not I cased it. Hope that helps!
