holes too high on monotub.. does it matter?
    #15753732 - 02/02/12 09:21 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

i have 105qt monotubs with uncased coir/verm with wbs as spawn.. the holes are about three inches higher than the sub. ive done this a few times already and i only get side pins every time. right now im not using garbage bags to line the tubs because ive done that too and i actually got worse yields because i only got a few pins at the edge of the sub. i use micropore tape on the holes. could it be the height of the holes thats causing this problem? maybe im not getting enough FAE at the top of the sub?

I always thought you wanted the holes close to the sub level to let co2 escape when fruiting.

3" might be a little high but should still work if you Take Off The MicroPore Tape

Use polyfil during fruiting.  micropore is not good enough for FAE.

for your side pinning problem- I was gonna suggest lining the tub with plastic.

Could be a moisture problem if it's only pinning from the sides and bottom too.

Improved FAE would help too.

:whathesaid:

The holes should be at substrate level.  Since its the way you are set now i would jsut try to fan more often

It's hard to get the height right every time. Just run a fan near the monotub (don't point it directly), use polyfill, and use liner next time.
