The answer is no, but I forgot the actual reason why. I've seen this question answered before by a TC.

Perlite is good for humidification; water adsorbs on its many surfaces, and since it has a high surface area, it holds a decent amount but releases it just as easily. Verm, on the other hand, retains water well, and holds it well; thus it's good as a water reservoir, but a shitty way to humidify your fruiting chamber.

Additionally, I have read that verm also acts as a source of certain minerals.

I went looking for verm at Wal Mart and chick said they didnt have any but they had something similar. She directed me to PERLITE and luckily I had done enough research on the forums to know that THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTION FOR VERM WHEN DOING PF TEK. Your best bet is going to be a store that basically sells stuff for growing weed. Thats how I found mine. Some people will tell you birdseed will work but that too is false. Let me know if you have any more questions :crazy2:

Ten years ago their excuse was it contained asbestos! They just don't want to carry it for some reason. Try Lowes

rustyshackleford06 already said to try a hydroponic store for it, but if you can't find a hydroponic store then go to amazon.com.  I get all my stuff from my local hydroponic store or from amazon.  Well all my stuff except for my totes and jars.  The totes come from walmart and I get my jars from smart and final.

I got mine from Menards. It was actually being sold as attic insulation but it's the same thing.

This is a horrible time of year to search for verm.  It should be in stock in a month or so once the gardening stuff arrives.
