MONOTUB questions (PICS!)
#15749526 - 02/01/12 09:55 PM (12 years, 11 months ago) |

what's everyone up to? i'm pretty bored but i had a few questions about my monotubs i currently have going for this upcoming harvest.
-1. Is there a problem with using small monotubs? -2. Extremely fast colonization (6gal & 18gal tubs with 2lbs of spawn to a bit under Damion's Elementary Coco Coir Tek monotub. Looks normal, sound like trouble? (1/30 - 12/1 very close to 100% on 6gal, about 80% on 18gal) -3. Syram wrap lids, is this enough?
Pictures & update pictures available via past post & request for currents.
Thanks guys!

Though I do full size monotubs; I do like using tall 24qt monotubs or squatty 12.5qt tubs that I make into dubtubs for fruiting

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15659262/fpart/all/vc/1
page 3 has the monos & pe bag. the first 2 pics are of my trich'd bulk sub back though it seems it has taken back over the substrate and left the trich in the dust as of today, i'm still gonna treat it as a contam & possibly fruit it away from my grow...
what does everyone think?? look good?
thanks again!

Nice catch winged_1! Didn't see that on my Droid at first. It should be clear enough not to mess with the light passing through it, I would think.

I'm not sure. I know blue tinted plastic blocks important bands of light

as i was reading through the thread i noticed posts about plexi/syram wrap lids working just as good as clear plastic.. idk if the tub is okay being the bluish color but the lid is clear (syram wrap) & this should be relatively okay if i'm reading the thread right..
opinions?

If blue tub is bad to block out light for fruiting and you have a clear lid like you say i see that being a very good setup. Since only the top of the mono will get the light pinning trigger. I know there are other factors but hey that is 1 down right?

The clear plastic wrap as a lid should allow plenty of unfiltered light to your substrate.
I remember that thread. TranscendingLife is the man when it comes to monotubs!

i stack small monos its my favorite way to grow i dont like big ass monotubs they never worked for me
these are a dollar a peice i can stack about 26 on my shelve each one yeilds about 3 ounces dry after 3-4 flushes
these boxes are 6 quarts so i but in a half quart of spawn and a quart of sub

So your substrate depth is only about an inch? That works out for you? Pics?

yah about an inch and a half to two inches

these are normal results btw
here is a picture of sides encase you think camera trick
btw this method makes soaking the mono a snap cause its so small lugging it around is not an issue cause water is a pound a pint i believe
