Yes BCCG... BCCG = Bulk Coir Cake Grater Tek (I hope I don't get in trouble for that one)
In any case, I used the coir tek as shown in this forum and due to my special circumstances I call this one my BCCG Tek, I have no food processor, I didn't use no grains.
I did use coir as shown in the coir tek, I also used cakes, and to break up my cakes I used a cheese grater (as someone mentioned in a post I made that it'd be better than breaking them up by hand, lmk know what you think)
This is my first run (first bulk doing it this way, a second one is in the plans and soon).
I will do a little journal on a step by step on how I did it and progress but this is what it looks like so far. Let's see what it'll look like when it goes into fruiting mode.
Mixed and top layered.
Day 1 after mixing coir with spawn.

Day 7
Mycelium is very rhizomorphic, but at this rate I got a feeling that I may have to wait longer than 10 days to go into fruiting mode.

Looks good man, one thing though, the top verm layer is not needed for cubes (im guessing you put one based on your description/picture) but whatever works for you! dont forget to update!

Is that what's slowing the process a bit? What is the top layer used for then azurances?

Some people do that to keep the more nutritious part of the sub from being exposed on the surface. It's not quite the same as a casing layer which you would leave only partially colonized and add on later.

azures are woodlovers and need to be grown outside, they simply eat woodchips.
casing bulk is needed for panaoleus species.
casing cubes doesnt really do anything but maybe retain moisture.

Just curious how many cakes did you spawn to coir and what size? Im guessing 1/2 pint jars? I have been spawing cakes recently too but at 1/1 and 1/2 ratios in small zip-lock bags to experiment with thin substrates.

And retaining moisture is a good thing isn't it? I checked the bulk this morning and it's pretty far along, I think I'll be going into fruiting mode within the next 3-4 days.

I'm interested in trying this. Could you tell me what size tub you used? Also did you use the recipe 1 brick of coir and two quarts of verm with 4 quarts of water?

I'll tell you what, let me get this tub into fruiting and see the turnout.
I will then grow a next batch with a new strain I've been wanting to try and I will make a step by step here when I start. I want to make sure that there's isn't any other deviations between now and harvesting.
