No dude....you haven't researched anything have ya? If you did you'd know not to mess with it until it's done. You could have a contamination since that part should colonize before the bottom. Just keep an eye on it

Is that spot just dry vermiculite from verm layer? If not you should wait until it finishes or until it begins pinning invitro so the mycelium is sturdy enough to remove the uncolonized sub without destroying the cake in the process. If neither happen it's probably contaminated.

Man it's contaminated then if it's you brf and verm. You inoculated at the top, that's where growth starts. It should have colonized way before the rest. Isolate that jar from others and watch it.

Glad to see that spot colonized. Now the question is can you be patient and allow consolidation? Haha

Yeah man a week is the minimum. I didn't see pins because maybe the pic isn't the best? Or my phone sucks...generally if it's pinning invitro then it's ready to fruit. Never mind I see it. You should still try for a week man.

Usually, the myc will only pin inside the jar for two reasons.

1st scenario : The myc has fully colonized and consolidated and realized there's no more food to eat, so it begins it's natural fruiting cycle.

2nd scenario : The myc has contacted with a contamination within the jar and begins early fruiting in order to produce spores as soon as possible to continue it's species.

It's very rare for uncontaminated jars to fruit early, but it does happen.

Man light isn't going to cause premature pinning. Alot of people put their colonizing substrates on a 12/12 light schedule with great success.

Yea I've seen that instructional video in which they advise to colonize in total darkness, so I don't blame you for having that idea.

That information, however, is out-dated and completely bogus. Perhaps if you had your jars colonizing directly in front of a 600 watt high pressure sodium grow light, it may make some pinning happen... But normal ambient room lighting is not going to do much unless all the other pinning triggers are also taking place.

Well my jars have been kept at 70-77 temp range and been sitting out in the open on top of my tv with my light on most of the day.

Could flipping the jars be what cause the pinning, I also lift the jars once or twice a day to let some air get in though the holes on the lids.

Im going to wait 4 more days to dunk and roll.

Pinning triggers in order of importance:
Full colonization/consolidation
Drop of co2, increase of FAE
Light

edit: nvm. I keep on assuming that jars mean jars of grain. I usually refer to brf jars as cakes.

Your jars are ready. Birth, dunk, and roll. Follow RR's videos, "Let's Grow Mushrooms!"
