But first you need to get MAD, Why they'll never legalize the drugs!

Legalizing all the drugs will be of substantial and long term benefit to public health because: Drugs will have a standard of purity and dose consistence to minimize harm. Education on safe use of drugs will discourage abuse, while encouraging responsible use. The potential value of a person to society as a whole will not be lost due to simply getting caught possessing, growing, and using drugs responsibly. Most organized crime will lose a substantial part of its income, while communities can benefit by reasonable taxation of drugs. Drug addiction/abuse can be treated as a medical issue instead of a crime. Crimes committed under the influence can be prosecuted for the actual criminal act that causes harm rather than creating a crime, ie public endangerment: driving while impaired by a drug. The marijuana plant can be used for a lot of things besides a drug. Many addicts can be rehabilitated using some of the illegal drugs such as Ayahuasca, LSD, and Iboga. That's just the tip of the iceberg of the benefits of legalizing everything.

Sadly this will never happen. The only arguments against legalizing it all are based on money and preservation of power in the hands of a few.

The core reason the drug users are prosecuted the way they are is that drug use is a crime of DISOBEDIENCE. Historically crimes of disobedience (thought crimes) have been persecuted far more harshly than simple crimes against persons or property. It all boils down to the authority/power structure asserting itself over your mind. If you don't do drugs- OUT OF FEAR- then you are likely to comply with other directives that will suit the powers that be.

The powers that be are especially scared of drugs like LSD, DMT, Magic mushrooms etc . that cause a person to become aware that bodily physicality is not the ultimate truth of existence. While it can be argued that the drug is merely "distorting consciousness" (it holds a scary revelation that the perception of physical reality and ego/self may be purely chemical), it is difficult to explain away that no matter how distorted the experience gets, you are still experiencing. This means only consciousness itself is beyond time, and it is likely consciousness itself is the ultimate reality. The rule by fear is absolutely dependent on a belief that physical existence is the ultimate truth.

Additionally it concentrates money and power in the hands of a few, those who choose to disobey the laws (Dealers), Organizations that enforce prohibition (DEA, COPS etc), and organizations that benefit from drug sales for politically incorrect projects (CIA, Organized crime cartels).

Bottom line: as long as MONEY and political POWER is more valuable than the cost in bloodshed to the ORGANIZATIONS that benefit from drug prohibition, the drugs will be forever illegal.

My counter argument to you is that the people who are interested in money over matters like health issues will be the drug cartels who want nothing but money. The government has strong incentive to promote policies that make its current systems better. I think the government is just confused and needs to learn a new perspective on this whole issue. At the core of the issue the government is filled with people like you and I. That leads me to believe that these people are doing the best that they can, it's just in a world where you have so many people and so many different factors and just things in general, it's very difficult to come up with the right answer due to that.

It's like why our brains filter out so much information. We'd be lost most of the time if we weren't able to see the world the way we do. And that is how I see the government, they just aren't filtering the good out and end up calling it ALL bad.

I disagree, It isn't just the cartels that are responsible, it is also the government drug policy enforcers that value money above all else. For example, almost anyone knows the worst thing that can happen with marajuana is getting caught with a felony amount and being procecuted.

Review scedule I (most illegal) and look how many of these drugs are regularly abused, now look at scedule 2, how many there are regularly abused to a detriment to society- Most of them? The government drug policy views phychedellic drugs ie Mushrooms and Cannabis as a greater threat to their agenda of total enslavement to a system they control than for example Methamphetamine and Cocaine. This policy is for their own gain at the expence of society as a whole.

Drugs don't damage society, they are all just drugs, neither damaging nor beneficial on their own. The US GOVERNMENT and their forced UN DRUG POLICY as it is, damages society by creating criminals out of people who desire to experience altered states of consciousness, while furthur oppressing people who are true drug abusers, by making realistic treatment options less likely than a felony conviction and concurrent ruination of one’s potential contribution to society.

I'll have to do more research, but for the schedules I think that is pure speculation at this point what the intention behind them was. The true intention that is. Personally I like to think on the positive side of things, and believe that my government is trying to do the right thing for the right reasons. However it's also important to be aware that they are human and can make mistakes too.

So basically from what I'm gathering here, you think that the Government put its current failed drug policies in place on purpose so that they could benefit personally? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
