WBS Fruiting Cakes
    #1573588 - 05/23/03 10:57 PM (20 years, 10 months ago)

I am stressed for time and was just wondering if anyone has had any success fruiting Wild Bird Seed Cakes? These cakes are 1/2pints, 100% colonized, and contam free. I won't have time to case them, so can I just fruit them like I would a BRF cake? Thanks for the help.

Yes you can, but IMO its not worth it, case it or spawn some bulk.

I have done this in the past and you'll get poor results, similar to a PF cake.
Sometimes they can be a problem also, giving extremely poor results (as in 1 flush consisting of 1 mushroom).

Case it, unless you have no choice.

the few extra hours to make a casing..you already put forth loads of time to be where you are at now...why risk it?

I'm in the process right now. It's taken a week and a half for it to pin.But there are an assload of them! Casing is better if you can but circumstances prevent it.Good luck!
