WTF happen to History on the History channel?

All I see on the history channel now is American Prickers and Axe Men Swamp People and all that dumb non-sense. Where's the history of Egypt and Rome and the more interesting subjects? Not saying their reality tv is bad, but why would they need Reality TV shows like American Pickers? Really dude? That show follows a couple douches who go around collecting junk from other people who have a bunch of junk and sell it to other people who weren't much different from the people they picked the shit up from lol, nice hustle tho but c'mon now. The only two shows that are interesting are Pawn Stars (The original one) and Ancient Aliens. -___- Where is the real history at? LBS

But seriously, I know what you mean. I miss those shows that had interviews with those wacky historians discussing the our past as humans. Pretty intriguing stuff. The low budget reenactments were the best part. And they were actually pretty well put together in most cases! I think the producers are just lazy now. Maybe they are trying to target a wider and younger audience too. But I would much rather watch a program about the Age of Enlightenment, and actually learn something, instead of watching reruns of American Restoration.

Agree completely with this thread so far. I used to like the History channel, I think it's just a reflection of our society getting stupider.

Ever watch Brink on the Science Channel? That show was so fucking awesome. Can't believe they canceled it. You're right, the good channels are totally going to hell. The only thing left is PBS, and that's extremely hit-or-miss. I do miss the documentaries on Roman and Greek and Egyptian history. That was awesome. I guess I'm lucky to not have cable, so I can't get frustrated with the stupidity anymore. But fuck Pawn Stars, and fuck Ancient Aliens. And while I'm at it, fuck Deadliest Catch, and fuck all the rest.
The only ones I think are decent are the "into the universe" kind of shows. They're pretty basic, and don't have any new information for me, but they're the kinds of shows that I hope are still around when I have kids. At least it's intellectually stimulating.

i always think they exaggerate a lot of stuff they talk about, and sometimes they miss out on alot of the details. its like they only show what is popular amongst the crowds.

PBS lol sometimes on a good late night you can find some old generic documentary. But it's not as interesting as Nat Geo's or History's nor as high budgeted either. But sometimes can be worth it. I agree with you, even though I like Pawn Stars and Ancient Aliens. It's is not as interesting or nearly as intellectually stimulating definitely. Like...I like Ancient Aliens, it's good but it lacks alot and kind is laughable at points. I don't doubt the existence of Aliens but at some points it gets really
On a side note, I was watching a cartoon cus my friend had it on Nikelodeon and it was weird, because it had a kid's cartoon and it had this evil dude talking about the hieroglyphics in the Pyramids was a series of cryptic musical notes that when deciphered can control people using super natural forces from Aliens 0.o now ain't that some strange shit? Odd...

God only know how many types of trucker shows (ice road trucker, irt: deadliest roads, some australian truck driving thing, some south american truck driving thing) and a bunch of pawn stars type shows too
