So I had a stalled jar of BRF PF Tek and so I took out what was grown, broke it up in a zip-lock and mixed it with some straight dried out Black Kow. Cross your fingers!!!!

Supposed to take off the foil. If the air holes are covered up like that the CO2 builds up and the jar can stall.

This is my first grow and I made a bunch of mistakes. You live and learn right? It just sucks cause I wasted two syringes of spores.

Trial and error works eh? Yeah your foil is just for sterilization it keeps the water droplets from your pan lid from entering your jars. the dry vermiculite on top is your barrier. I take my tape off too w/no probs.
And two syringes? wow, were you going big for your first grow or how many cakes did you do? 1cc's enough for a half pint.

Yeah, the foil thing wont be repeated. I colonized 12 pint jars. Nothing happened with 10. 1 had green mold and one stalled out on me. I took the stalled one and did this and I put some of the myc in jars with a 1/2 and 1/2 of apple juice and water and one with honey and water. Doing a lot of experimenting with this batch because I would have just thrown it out anyways. I also think my vermiculite was too fine a grade, thats prob why they stalled out. Oh, I also put some of the myc in two jars with just brown rice to see if I can colonize those. The tops of both are nice and fuzzy now. If any of these work, it's just a bonus, like i said, I was gonna throw it out anyways.

Ahh I see, its always fun to experiment once you let go a little bit.
One thing to consider, you might be naming the wrong culprit for your stalling. Both grades of vermiculite work fine, if anything you may need to adjust your water amount to reach 'field capacity' but I think the most likely variable that caused your stalling is using pint jars instead of half pints with the combo of the foil stopping your gas exchange.
Keep on, keepin on.

The trays I mixed up are growing, I can see some myc coming up. The jar I took it out of was mixed up too and I can see growth on the sides of the jar now. The LC jars arnt doing anything so far. Pics in a few days when I see more growth.

Soooooooooo, a little background if you dont wanna read the first posts. I had a stalled jar.
I scooped most of the stalled stuff out and split it between two small loaf pans
and I put a couple of pieces and put em on top of some brown rice in 1/4 pint jars
Thats a half pint jar, I didnt have a pic of the 1/4 pint before. The pans are myc'in up pretty nice
The jar is almost 90% done.
Thats the back and the only spot not myc'ed up yet
Thats the fully done side Y'all have to give me some opinions on the rice jars. It's kinda hard to see, but if you look you can see stuff creepin down the sides.

A lot of people do. My first attempt at PF I actually put electrical tape over the air holes and couldn'tI figure out why it stalled
