Nice Business Policy Dominion Power

There's a dead tree on the side of my yard. It's inbetween my property and a private road. It has cracks at the base and is about to fall on some power lines and then into a house on that private lane. So I give Dominion Power a call to tell them about it. So, they come out here today to tell me they only cut down trees affecting primary power lines. This is a secondary power line so they just let it fall and fix it later.

Here's the tree. It's going to crash on the power lines and hit a house.

I'd say do a control break so the neighbors don't get hurt.

The dead tree has branches tangled with an alive tree some 30-40 feet up. I'll have to take down the tree that is alive first then take down the dead tree. Too much work, ugh. I can do it but I was just hoping Dominion would take care of it.

I'm going to call York County tomorrow to see if they'll do it. The problem is that there are two trees and they overlap power lines. I have to fall the alive tree to fall the dead tree. It's a two person job and I know how to do it but it'll take a good full day. I pay taxes, maybe York County will do it. Just a hopefull thought. lol

Dominion Power said they won't cut down the tree. York County said they won't cut down the tree. My self, my dad and my housemate cut down the tree. While we were at it we cut down the other dead tree next to it.

I'm pretty sure this policy is practiced across the nation... At least in PA I believe it's the same.

i've got the same problem. there's a dead ass tree that is leaning like crazy, right over the lines that come to my house. all its gonna take is a good wind or a bunch of ice to bring that sucker down and all my utilities with it. but it's so freaking huge, I can't see any way to get it down w/o a giant cherry picker or something. if i just let it fall on my lines, will the power company come put them back up? does anybody know ?

Definitely call your power company to at least take a look at it. Write down the work order number and the person you spoke with if they decide not to take it down.
