Is humor and laughter spiritual? Swami thinks so.

What is your fave:

A. Dry piercing wit

B. Knock-knock joke

C. Dripping sarcasm

D. Contrary juxtaposition

E. Mocking irony

F. Sexual innuendo

G. Raw insult

H. Other

Hey, that was funny. I think that is a juxtaposition type joke.

I like all types of humor except instances where inflict pain, emotional or otherwise, is present.

Moe pokes Curly in the eye. I didn't laugh at this when I was a child nor do I laugh at it now.

The Road Runner drops a huge boulder on the Coyote and squashes him like a bug.

Not funny.

Lucy holds the football for Charlie Brown. He comes running. She pulls it away just as he is about to kick it. He falls down.

Not funny.

The things that make me laugh the hardest are animal funnies. Some years ago Funniest Home Videos used to show some things that made me choke with laughter.

There was a party and people were doing the Conga line dance where everyone has their hands on the person in front of them. In the middle of it this full size French poodle (about 5 feet tall when standing up) jumps into the Conga line and was going around the room with them doing the Conga.

I laughed so hard I thought I would die.

Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

A, C, D, and H just in case I can't think of something.
I think much of my humor qualifies as "other".

Think Hunter S. Thompson, The Church of the Subgenius, and sometimes I laugh out loud when reading Nietzsche, Dostoevsky, or Plato (I barely understand this myself, so don't expect a good explanation).

Right now I'm laughing in a way you never have.

i prefer E over all the other options, but all humor is good, except the knock-knock jokes, they suck.

but yes, i would say humor is as spiritual as anything else.

*sigh* The joke was the inclusion of "Knock-knock" jokes on the list, but then you KNEW that.

I like watching that show where asians try and do stupid stunt like things and hurt themselves. That is the only time I find pain amusing.

i remember once markosthegnostic criticized marijuana in that a toker's first reaction to somebody slipping and falling would probably be to laugh, where a natural, moral reaction should be concern. (did i catch that right, markos? if you remember...)

i think there's a possibility for a perfectly natural, healthy laugh out of a fall, given the circumstance --- i doubt many stoners would laugh if you fell forward down a flight of steps and smacked against the concrete --- i imagine in such a situation the stoner would act with concern.

i think the three stooges is very interesting, and would recommend people to get stoned and sit around and look at it every now and then.

the road runner gets a good eye-candy giggle response out me, i would get a kick out of conceptualizing some of those crazy inventions and bringing them to life through animation.

i dislike charlie brown, i really dislike the america's funniest home videos & animal videos, though if something slapstick sort of happened amongst friends that's an entirely different story.

personally, and i get a lot of criticism in doctor's offices exc., but books, like a good vonnegut book, for example, are like streams of nonstop halarity to me.... people will make snide comments like "what could possibly BE that funny?" and I look up at them and their facial expression alone will make me roll over laughing!

other slapstick stuff, like an adam sandler or jim carry, wouldn't get a reaction out of me at all.... they rub me the wrong way.... so it's hard to say, i can't make any overall judgments on what i find funny or not in terms of categories, it all comes down to discretion towards each within a category type.

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.
